Salmon; Canvas, acrilic medium and digital print; Riverrun at Interurban Art Gallery

The Salmon series were made from underwater video of Sockeye Salmon spawning in Adams River, near Kelowna, B.C. I printed out several frames from the video and composed them into a collage-painting. The layering of the sequence of video frames provides the sense of movement within the still image of the painting. This work extends the cubist concept of multiple time frames, perspectives and spaces—a superimposition of layers of time—giving a temporal collage that creates image depth.
